What a funny little word.
Yet so powerful.
It calls for action. For movement forward.
And sometimes it calls for courage.
For taking risks.
And stepping into the unknown.
“Begin” is a word I’ve been thinking a lot about these last few months.
Since Covid 19 and the quarantine began.
During this “Great Pause” we’ve all had a chance to slow down.
And take a step back.
To decide what really matters to us.
And what doesn’t.
A sort of imposed culling process.
Of what should stay in our lives.
And what should go.
As I did this inventory on my own life I realized just how important the word “begin” was.
Before Covid, I was carrying on at my usual pace.
Going through the motions of day to day life.
Dragging my feet on some things.
Letting my fear stop me on others.
But since Covid, I’ve felt a sense of urgency.
To let go of the things no longer serving me.
(Why waste any more time on those?).
And to call forth the ones that were.
I’ve had a growing sense that the Universe wanted me to step up.
To step fully into my life.
Once and for all.
No more excuses.
To begin to do more of the things that resonated with my heart.
Instead of putting them off until tomorrow.
To begin to move through my fear and limiting beliefs.
Of perfectionism. Overthinking. Over-analyzing.
And comparison to others.
To begin to push aside all the reasons I tell myself why I can’t do the very things I know I want to.
The very things that will lead me to a more fulfilling life.
A more purposeful life.
I’ve realized it doesn’t matter where we begin.
Or even when do, if we do it well.
There’s no perfect way to begin.
All that really matters is that we do in fact begin.
To take those baby steps towards living in alignment with our core desires.
With the very things that light us up.
And make us feel more alive.
Because life is for living now.
Not putting it off for someday.
When all the so-called pieces fall into place.
Because those pieces may never come. And you could spend a lot of precious time waiting.
Waiting for your life to begin.
When you’re the one that needs to take the reigns. And “begin it!”
So let me ask you this…
What have you been putting off “until tomorrow?”
What do you feel called to do?
Or to say?
Or to have?
And what are you waiting for?
I challenge you to take a step towards it.
That thing. That person.
That career, or job, or new business idea.
That part-time passion.
And just, begin.
