It’s time to say YES to YOU & no to energy drainers!

I remember the moment so clearly….

I was parked in my 2007 VW Jetta chatting to a friend on the phone.

Offering support to her around the latest drama with her ex — something I’d done many times before.

About 30 minutes into our convo, she finally asked me how I was.

For some reason that day I decided to be more vulnerable with her than I’d been in the past.

I admitted how upset I was over something that’d happened to me.

Then paused for her response….

…Crickets. 🦗🦗🦗

I was convinced we’d been disconnected.

“Hello? Are you still there?” I asked (expecting to hear nothing).

“Uh huh.” She said.

“Oh…ok.” I said, surprised.

(And with a twinge of ‘wtf?’)​

​But I continued to share my feelings openly.

Hoping for a more supportive response from her.

All I got back was…

More awkward silence! 🫣

My stomach dropped.

I felt exposed. Like my vulnerable heart had just been hung out to dry.

So I scrambled to make the awkwardness go away.

By doing what I was good at…

Shifting the attention back to her!

(which she happily soaked up…as energy drainers 🪫 do).

But you know what?

That “icky, stomach-dropping” moment stayed with me.

And when I reflected back on it later (cuz I knew it had something to say…our bodies always do)

I came to a very clear conclusion:

I was done! (soooo done!)

✔️  Done with one-sided relationships 

(that drained the f*ck right out of me)!

✔️  Done with throwing myself under the bus

(to make someone else feel good, while I felt like sh*t)!

✔️  Done with saying yes to everyone and everything 

(so I wouldn’t disappoint them)!

If you’re done with all that, too…

And you wanna learn to say YES to you…

And no to all those emotional vampires in your life…
