I was sitting at my desk with a pounding headache.

Colourful post-it notes everywhere.
Each one with a potential business name scribbled on it…
Then scratched out.
It was 2013.
I’d just finished a self-employment program and was trying to launch my very first business.
(A virtual assistant gig, in case you’re wondering)
After years in admin and executive assistant roles, organizing was my thing.
I was ready to launch my new business.
But I couldn’t move forward.
Not until I had the perfect business name.
(Ugh, it pains me to say that now!!)
I was caught in perfectionism and overthinking.
But still, I kept spinning.
Trying to think my way out of being stuck.
Nothing worked.
Try as I might, I couldn’t come up with a business name I liked.
My head hurt.
So eventually I gave up.
Closed my laptop. Put on my runners.
And headed out for a long walk in the woods.

Instant relief.
No pressure. No mental clutter.
Just me, the trees, and the deep stillness of nature all around me.
Ahhhhh.
I finally had the space to breathe.
And then, just like magic, my new business name dropped in:
Lighten Up.
I loved it instantly! It was playful, honest, and sooooo me.
The perfect fit.
That moment has stayed with me…
It taught me something I still lean on today:
Clarity doesn’t always come from thinking harder. Sometimes it comes from taking a pause. And stepping away, so you can hear your intuition speak.
