Remember that energizer bunny commercial?
The one where the pink bunny in sunglasses races ’round and ’round, banging on his little drum?
And never runs out of energy?
Well, that was me when I was younger.
My Mom used to say that I would just “go, go, go.”
Until I crashed.
Sounds kinda cute, eh?
Well, kind of.
But only when I was young.
I’ve since learned it’s not the best way to live a balanced life.
Who wants to go, go, go until you crash?
Certainly not me anymore.
So while I may be better at pacing myself these days, I still have my energizer bunny moments.
Because I’m an action-taker.
And I like to get sh*t done.
So sometimes I jump into things too fast.
Bite off more than I can chew.
And before I know it, it all catches up with me.
And I crash. Again.
Just like I did as a kid.
Can you relate?
Maybe you overdo it sometimes, too?
Take on too much?
Say ‘yes’ to things when you should’ve said ‘no’?
And then before you know it, you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Exhausted. Cranky. Burned out.
Thoroughly done.
If so, I get.
Cuz that’s what happened to me last week.
I was uber grumpy and frustrated.
With everything and everyone around me.
And it took me a couple of days to realize why.
That’s what my video ‘trust in the ebbs and flows of your life’ is all about..
Navigating these ‘crash and burn’ moments in life.
That we all have at some time or another.
Because we’re human. And doing the very best we can.
The important thing is to learn how to pay attention to your body’s wisdom.
And what it’s telling you.
About your own ebbs and flows in life.
Perhaps you need to stop overcommitting yourself?
Take a step back from your work? Your partner, your kids?
Your daily routines.
To rest. And recharge your battery.
And be more patient with yourself.
Cuz take it from me — a recovering energizer bunny — you don’t have to push yourself sooooo hard.
(Or beat yourself up, if you forget this).
It’s your life.
And you get to live it, your way.
So remember, be kind to yourself along the way.
Ask for help when you need it.
And trust in the ebbs and flows of your life.
