Lately I’ve been figuring out how to bring more joy into my life.
Not by overhauling everything.
But by saying yes to small everyday moments that light me up.

Like the other week when I bumped into an old friend I hadn’t seen in over a decade.
At the time, I was out doing errands and in my “get sh*t done” mode…
So when she invited me for a spontaneous coffee, I almost said no.
But then I caught myself, and said yes instead! 🙌🏻
(Cuz errands? They can wait! But serendipitous moments like this can’t!)
So I joined her and her husband at an outdoor coffee shop.
Then she and I took a long walk to the beach, sat with our backs against a log, and chatted in the warm afternoon sun for hours.
I felt so alive afterwards.
More connected, more carefree, more me.
A few days later, another lovely friend invited me on a bike ride.

Her husband offered to lend me his e-bike, and this time I didn’t hesitate for a second.
That afternoon, we cruised along the Vancouver Seawall to the beach, stopped for lunch at a bustling new restaurant, and laughed until our cheeks hurt.
(Especially when I discovered, the hard way, just how tricky it is to get an e-bike moving again when you’ve stopped on a steep gravel hill! 😝)
And now, as I write this, I’m tucked away on my little back patio…
Soaking up some sunshine, quiet time, and a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of life.
These little moments — the coffee dates, the bike rides, the backyard escapes — have reminded me how easy it is to forget to make space for joy when life gets busy.
How we can get stuck on autopilot.
And keep going through the motions…
Continuing to do what we’ve always done, just to get through the day.
But here’s the thing:
Adding more joy into your daily life doesn’t have to be big, fancy, or complicated.
It can start with one small step…
Saying yes to a moment of lightness, connection, or something unexpected.
Leaning into the things you value.
Doing more of what make you feel alive, energized, and free.
If you’re not even sure what those things are anymore though, you’re not alone.
Sometimes life gets so busy or feels so heavy that we lose touch with what brings us joy.
